Privacy Notice for Chabre Vol Libre

Chabre Vol Libre (CVL) is a paragliding club affiliated to the FFVL (Fédération Française de Vol Libre).  CVL organises and runs paragliding cross-country competitions. It is based in the Laragne and Ribiers areas of southern France.

What we need from you

When you register for a paragliding competition, we may ask you for some or all of the following personal information:

• Contact details – e.g. name, address, email address and phone number.
• Date of birth.
• Participation details – relevant experience; in flying competition and cross country.
• Safety and emergency details – e.g. next of kin, relevant health conditions.
• Relevant paragliding qualifications

If you do not provide us with all the personal information that we need, our ability to register you or offer you a place in a competition may be affected.

Why we need your personal information

We need to collect your personal information so that we can manage your relationship with us. We may use our members’ personal information to:

• Provide access to our competitions.
• Ensure we have relevant safety and emergency details during competitions.
• Validate entry requirements to our competitions
• Provide you with news and updates for current and future competitions.
• Respond to and investigate your questions, comments, support needs, complaints, concerns or allegations

Other uses of your personal information

We may ask you if we can process your personal information for other purposes. Where we do so, we will provide you with an additional privacy notice explaining how we will use your information for these purposes.

Who we share your personal information with

We will not share your personal data with any third parties without your prior consent (which you are free to withhold) except where we are  required to do so to comply with any competent law enforcement body, regulatory body, government agency, court or other third party where we believe disclosure is necessary (a) as a matter of applicable law or regulation, (b) to exercise, establish, or defend our legal rights, or (c) to protect your vital interests or those of any other person.  

Third party suppliers with access to members’ personal data

In the event that we share personal information with external third parties, we only share such information strictly required for the specific purposes and take reasonable steps to ensure recipients shall only process the disclosed personal information in accordance with those purposes.

• For example, email distribution may be handled using an external email distribution provider.

How we protect your personal information

Your personal information is accessed by our Club officers and website administrator and only for the purposes set out above.
The data we collect from you will be stored within the EU. By providing us with this data, you agree to this storing and/or processing.
All our data is stored on our secured servers or on secure servers that are operated by a third party GDPR compliant host.

How long we keep your personal information

We only keep your personal information for as long as necessary to provide you with our competition services. We delete your personal information 3 years after your registration date.

We maintain an email distribution list which will only contain your name and email address.  You can unsubscribe from this list at any time using the unsubscribe link

You have a right to:

• Change your communication preferences or restrict the processing of your personal data for specific purposes.
• Request that we correct your personal data if you believe it is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Access the personal data that we hold about you through a “subject access request”.
• Request that we delete your personal information.

If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post these changes on this website, so that you always know what information we collect and how we use it.
